Play Block Master Online

Place all three pieces, clear complete units, and keep enough flexible space for the next tray.

How to use the game

Select one of the three offered pieces, then choose the top-left board cell where it should land. The move is accepted only when every cell in the piece remains inside the 9x9 board and overlaps no occupied block. A full row, column, or outlined 3x3 box clears after the placement.

Use all three tray pieces to receive a fresh batch. The piece sequence does not adapt to your score. Your best score is stored in local browser storage, so it remains on this device and is not sent to a Block Master account.

Scoring you can verify

Every placed cell contributes one point. Each completed unit adds 18 points. Multiple units in one move add 12 times the square of completed units minus one. A consecutive clearing turn adds five points times the current streak. A move with no clear resets the streak.

Worked clear: finish the open row while preserving a five-cell lane below it.

Three useful scenarios

Empty-board opening

Start by locating the hardest shape rather than spending the single cell. Put compact pieces near a clean edge without sealing an entire row or column. Keep the center adaptable unless a placement creates a purposeful box clear.

Two-unit intersection

If one cell completes a row and column, the move receives both clear awards plus a multi-clear bonus. Confirm the remaining pieces still fit after the shared cells disappear. High points are not a guarantee of safe geometry.

Critical recovery

When the health label becomes Critical, inspect difficult-piece fit first. A smaller piece may create an enabling clear that opens the only bar or L-shape origin. The run ends only when every offered piece has no legal placement.

Limits and fair expectations

The board-health ruler summarizes measured flexibility and never claims to solve every future sequence. Endless play is designed for practice and personal scores, not competition. There is no public percentile or fabricated leaderboard.

For a focused lesson, open the practice library. To inspect a position cell by cell, use the board analyzer.

Placement edge cases

A piece preview uses its top-left bounding-box cell as the origin. Empty offsets inside an L or T shape do not need support, but every occupied offset must fit. Pieces do not fall, slide, rotate, or push existing cells. If one occupied offset overlaps a block or leaves the board, the complete placement is rejected and no score changes.

Clear detection happens only after a valid placement. The engine first records all full rows, columns, and boxes on the placed board. It then removes the union of their cells. This order prevents one animation or removal from hiding another completed unit. Intersections contribute to each completed unit for scoring but disappear once from the resolved board.

Three more testable examples

A rejected edge placement

Select a horizontal five-cell bar and choose row 9, column 6. Only four columns remain, so the move is rejected with a useful message. The board, tray, streak, and score stay unchanged. This is the extreme-input case for board bounds.

A no-clear placement

Place a 2x2 square in a clean opening corner. It earns four placement points. If it completes no unit, the clear streak resets to zero. The move can still be strategically useful when it preserves lanes and advances a box without creating a hole.

A simultaneous clear

Prepare one row and one column with a shared missing cell. A single-cell piece at the intersection earns one placement point, 36 base clear points, the 12-point two-unit bonus, and the current clear-streak bonus. The shared cell is removed once, leaving both units open.

Game questions

What happens after all three tray pieces are used?

A new deterministic three-piece batch appears. The current board and score remain in place.

Can I place part of a piece outside the board?

No. Every cell must remain inside the 9x9 grid and land on an empty cell.

Can one move clear a row, column, and box?

Yes. All units completed by the placed state are recorded and cleared together.

Why did board health fall after I scored points?

Scoring measures the completed move, while health measures remaining flexibility. A rewarding clear can still leave restrictive geometry.

Does restarting erase my best score?

No. Restarting resets the current run. The best score remains in browser local storage until site data is cleared.
